About the blog
"Woven" is a blog which aims to educate readers on current affairs of domestic and international law. Particular attention is paid to Gender Based Justice, with a focus on increasing awareness of women's issues.
Whether you are a student, an aspiring lawyer, or an avid reader of 'true crime', this blog is for you. With an enduring prevalence of hate crimes and the presence of some of the most horrific humanitarian crises in recent history, the digital sphere of media can be overwhelming to engage in.
Through constant access to and engagement with distressing media, the potential for adverse psychological effects to arise is strong. As a result, I've noticed that rather than taking a balanced approach to media consumption, the pendulum can swing to the other extreme for burnt-out readers - inertia and disinclination.
Woven slows the pace, keeps it simple, and sifts through all the articles so you don't have to.
The Writer of Woven
Woven is founded and written by Annabel Meir, a final year law student at the University of Leeds, and a recent Graduate of the SELF Program at Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.
I decided to create this blog as a bit of a passion project. With a particular enthusiasm for Criminal Law and International Human Rights, "Woven" is my attempt at bridging the knowledge gap for young people interested in Criminal Law and the community beyond British borders.
Although Woven is my first-ever blog, it is not my first publishing project. As the former Inclusion Officer of LUUWILS, I founded and directed the publishing of WILS Inclusion Journal. This was a 50+ page publication dedicated to showcasing the excellence of women from various backgrounds, paying close attention to women's issues in sports, industry, sciences and culture - all whilst staying fairly local to my University. You can find this [here] (coming soon).

This is me and my fantastic team for the Inclusion Journal :)
Non-Law Posts
Don't be shocked if the odd post is not necessarily about Criminal or International Law. Whilst Woven primarily covers all things related to those topics, I also want to focus on other aspects, such as career stuff, lifestyle, and to be fair - whatever else I fancy.
I'll keep the yapping to a minimum, but if you are interested in all things non-law but law-student related, I have a mailing list for that.
The mailing list sends a monthly newsletter about uni and career advice (don't take it as authority - I'm still figuring it out myself); some lifestyle bits because I'm a bit OTT when it comes to researching all things that are ethical and Human Rights friendly, and a little section detailing life at university.
